Rolling Tides (Heatwave), c.2021
Embracing true freedom.
“Rolling Tides” is a piece inspired by observing and participating in the explosion of dance skating between 2020 and 2021. Through learning how to skate, I have been able to find a new freedom within myself as well as connection to a shared Black history of expression.
“Rolling Tides” has been created with the use of full-body acrylic paint on an 24”x 36” gallery-wrapped canvas. It features a woman on roller skates with blue wheels, skating with the sunset behind her and the ocean underneath her.
