The name Black Girl Absolute is not derived from the idea that there is an absolute, universal Black experience, but rather that Black women and girls need not be compared to others to be considered worthy. Onto ourselves are we absolute.

 

Without qualification, you are enough.

Jasmine Green is a Black visual artist and poet born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Jasmine practices artivism, which is the use of artistic expression to bolster social and political movements.

 

Through the modes of painting, poetry, and prose, Jasmine strives to create artwork tells the story of Black women and girls in as bold and creative ways as possible.

 

She has participated in the 2018, 2019, and 2020 1Hood Artivist Academy cohorts, participated in the 2019 Activation Residency, and has been featured in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and WTAE's "Project CommUNITY".
